Our Ruby Tuesday

I’ve concluded that I’m a bad blogger. I’ve neglected my follower and that upsets me…

So- The life and times of Erin, as of late:

Well as spring decided to go into hiding for a little while longer last weekend, I headed South- to the sunny state of Texas where it was… raining. Ah well, it was a short trip made by my boo and me for the sole purpose of picking out our puppy! Her name will be Ruby and she is a precious red mini goldendoodle. We didn’t get to take our little bundle of joy home, but we made the trip to pick her out and to check out the breeder.

Here she is at 3 weeks old:

Isn't our little Easter bunny cute?

She won’t be able to go home with us until the end of April, which gives us plenty of time to puppy proof and rest up… :)
She will mostly be with my Jeffrey, but I have been given full visitation rights. I’m super excited to get her home with us and April 17th can’t come fast enough!

In other news, I’m proud to say that I’m a full participant in all the madness this month. – March Madness that is. I have filled out my bracket (for the first time) and, not to toot my own horn or anything, but it doesn’t look to shabby. At least for a person who had no idea what a “seed” was going into it. I’ve picked West Virginia to win, and I’ve been told that it wasn’t a totally outlandish choice. We shall see how I’m holding up in a couple days.

Now, Idol Madness is an entirely different story. For those of you who don't know what Idol Madness is, it is a competition much like March Madness that my friend Courtney designed, where we (my friends and I) choose who will be voted off each show. We get points for each of our correct choices. At the end of the show, the person who has the most points at the end wins! I’m ashamed to say I’m falling behind. In my defense however, I feel like this has been a very unpredictable season and it’s anyone’s game. (I am rooting for my girls Didi and Cyrstal, even though in “idol madness” I originally picked Lee to win it all.)
...Lee is still in by the way, which means I might not be totally off base!

This weekend I’m looking forward to a Saturday full of Sooner Scandals fun in Norman with my friends. I’m hoping it will be a lovely sunny, warm day where we can sit outside at the Mont and “swirl it up”. Those ice cold alcoholic beverages seem like they would be just wonderful right-about-now. Puhlease Puhlease don’t rain on us sky! I’m begging…via blog…this means I’m serious. I’m ready for Spring to …uh Spring!
Welp until next time (hopefully it won't be a month, but I'm not making any promises). Love!

Weddings

Hello all,

I love Weddings. This weekend I'm going to my beautiful friend Amanda's wedding. I'm super excited to see her say her "I do's"!

My favorite part about weddings= the cake. Yes, yes, cake so good I'm premeditating the cheating that's going to go on with my Lenton promise. I guess you could say I'm taking my "Sunday" on Saturday. (shhh, don't tell Jeff, he doesn't believe that you can cheat on Sundays). I'm so excited to see my friends and dance the night away. Be warned that you might see some of my ridiculous dance moves.
Some of which include:
The "Get Low"

The "Air Pat" (also known as the Chancellor)

and
The "Finger in the Air" (a wedding staple)

What can I say? I like to "move it, move it" or possibly "shake my groove thing"? ....place more silly song lyrics here...

Whatever. I'm a dancing fool that likes to eat cake. I think you get the picture.

Yay for Weddings and Yay for Amanda!

A few random thoughts

Hello Blogging World!

I have not written in a while, and the reason is- I have no reason. I was waiting for something good to say and while I still haven't come up with anything yet, I thought I couldn't desert my one follower (hey Jeffrey) for much longer. My hiatus from the blogging world has not actually been a legitimate hiatus as I have been reading some blogs as a sort of form of inspiration for my own little page. I've posted my faves for your reading pleasure.

Soooo... What have I been doing in my "time off"? Well a number of things.

Um- Working

Reading- Just finished "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. It's super good, and a fast read, however no one informed me that it was quite depressing. But duh, the title has the word "bones" in it and it's about dying so if that didn't give me a few hints... (Now all I have to do is see the movie! My goal was to finish the book before the movie came out, but alas.)

I also enjoyed a lovely Birthday/Valentines week during our "break". The details of which I won't describe here, however I will give you the course of events.

1. Dinner with the fam and Jeffrey on Wednesday at 501. (yummy)

2. Friend dinner on Thursday. I had the best time with my wonderful friends and ate the best homemade strawberry shortbread cake ever!

3. Friday, dinner with my amazing Valentine.

What a great week that was!

Coming down from the high of my birthday week and back to reality was hard, however currently I'm focusing my attention elsewhere.

To the daunting task of looking for the perfecto spring dress. I need a good one. Versatility is key as well as, well, cute-ness. My fave spring dresses can always be found at one of the most wonderful places on Earth referred to as Anthropologie. Some of my picks this year include:

Blazing Rays Dress: $158

Sound Waves Dress: Sale! $129.95

Fragmented Grapevine: $148

Dawn til Dusk Dress: $458

Which one will I choose? Stay tuned.

BTW Happy Birthday to my realtor friend Gracie Lou. She's officially a 20-something. (Well, she could have been considered one last year, but whatev.)

The Lenton Season is currently upon us. What did I give up? Sweets... oh geeze. It's gonna be a hard one. ( I do this one every year, but for some reason this year seems particularly difficult) What did you all give up? I'm presuming at the moment that my readers are Catholic, but then again I'm presuming that I have readers...

I'm using my time this weekend to relax and get "stuff" done. I also need to catch up on some Oscar nom'd movies before the Academy Awards. My favorite of all the award shows all year. Possibly it's my Film and Video Studies background coming out (Ok, I only have a minor in it) but I LOVE watching the award movies each year before the show. Poor Jeffrey has to go with me if they're in theaters and for some reason isn't as thrilled about them as I am. I seem to always pick the most disturbing out of all of those nominated to watch in theaters. Last year it was Revolutionary Road, and The Changeling. Both amazing movies, yet quite disturbing.

Hmmm, What should I see this year?

I do have a lot of them to catch up on. So, currently I've only seen 3, yes count it, 3 movies up for best picture. Failure.

"Inglorius Basterds" = Awesome. However odd Tarantino's movies are, he is genius.
"Up"= I cried. That poor little old man.
"The Hurt Locker"= That man was crazy, but what a good job Jeremy Renner did!

On my "to see" list:

"Up in the Air"
"The Lovely Bones"
"Avatar"
"The Blind Side"

Man, I'd better get to watchin' in the next two weeks!

If I remember, I'll let you know my progress.

Man, I guess I did end up having a lot to say!

Snow Day!

What is it about Snow Days that make people want to bake? You know, I'm just not sure, but I'm on board with the whole idea. Yesterday I made Monster Cookies (thanks Grace), and they were delish. However, all of this baking becomes problematic when you are trapped within the confines of a warm, toasty house. So what do you do? Well I have a found a solution to this quandary. My friend (shout-out Burton) discovered On Demand's "Freezone" workouts last year. And I'm not gonna lie, I spent my morning doing them today, and- It. Was. Awesome. Um, another confession, I did them alone. ( I would suggest having a buddy, as it did get a little weird) But what else is there to do when you are "Snowed in"? Well, I've taken this time and made a list (you'll thank me later):

1. Read a book by the fire (my fave is Gone with the Wind)

2. Cuddle up on the couch and watch a good movie
3. Play a game (Yesterday we played Scene It, and I think I did pretty darn well)

4. For those who would like to venture into the Winter Wonderland- build a snowman!

5. Uh, watch your favorite television shows online?

The fact of the matter is, it seriously took me about 10 minutes to think of #5 and it was pitiful. I'm terribly bored and I've resorted to making lists on my blog to entertain me. Please don't follow my advise, I have no idea what I'm talking about....
Enjoy your Snow Day, I have full confidence that you are entirely aware of how to keep yourselves entertained.

My first Blog!

So maybe it's the fact that I have been slowly starting to feel my creativity floating away from me as I sit at my desk everyday, or possibly I've just been watching too much "Julie and Julia", but nevertheless the idea of writing a blog came to me a couple of days ago and I've decided to run with it. While I have no gimmick- no real topic with which I choose to entertain, I hope that my everyday happenings will suffice. So with no real plan in mind, I dive head first into this crazy blogging world and hope there's a funnoodle and possibly a frozen drink waiting for me in the deep end.

Hmm too much metaphor? I'll tone it down next time. I'm still learning you know...
